Mette Edvardsen. Choreographer and performer. Although some of her work explores other media and formats, such as video, books and writing, her interest is always in the performing arts as a practice and situation. She has worked as a dancer and performer for various companies and projects since 1994, and has been developing her own work since 2002. She presents her work internationally and continues to develop projects with other artists, both as a collaborator and as a performer.

 

Retrospectives of her work have been presented at the Black Box Theatre (Oslo, 2015), and in the Idiorritmias programme at MACBA (Barcelona, 2018). Her piece ‘Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine’ has been in circulation since 2010, has been presented twice at Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels, 2013 and 2017), Sydney Biennale (2016), Index Foundation (Stockholm, 2019), Oslobiennalen First Edition (2019/ 2020), Trust & Confusion at Tai Kwun Arts (Hong Kong, 2021) and Bienal de São Paulo (2021). She will present several pieces at Amant, (New York, 2022), and will develop a residency project at Les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers (Paris 2022/23).

 

Mette Edvardsen is supported by Norsk Kulturråd (2021/2025) and BUDA Arts Centre Kortrijk (2017/2021). From 2019 to 2021, she was an associate artist at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Caen en Normandie (France). She is currently finalising her research as a PhD candidate at the Oslo National Academy of Arts.
